![]() After leaving my first review, Hale contacted me and let me know some Motorola phones had an impedance that wasn't compatible with the Hale device. When I first received this product, it didn't work with my phone. 4/25/14 (I have kept my first review intact for comparison) I ended up going with the Soundfreaq Sound Rise Black (SFQ-08), which I purchased a little cheaper from a retail store with a large round red logo.I hope the next version of Dreamer has smaller plugs, and maybe I'll check it out again. My guess is that an extension cable with 4 conductors (like this one: YCS Basics 2 foot 3.5mm male to female 4 conductor) would work, but I just didn't want to jump through any more hoops. I tried to use a mini-stereo extension cable, but the one I used has only 3 conductors (TRS), not the 4 conductors (TRRS) that the Dreamer's plug has, so I got no sound. However, because the phone uses whatever is plugged into the audio jack as the antenna, in this case, the audio plug is too short or too shielded to allow for any reception. I had it set to start the FM Radio app, and it does that without a hitch. ![]() You can have the alarm activate any app on your phone (in addition to the alarm sounds built into the software). The plastic surrounding the connector is so thick that I can't get any sound unless I hold the plug onto the phone.I think the makers need to better account for the fact that many cases have small port openings. After testing a bit without the case on, the unit works very well. Note, however, that the flared portion does rotate 180 degrees. (I speculate that this problem may be compounded by phones with both the audio jack and the micro-USB port on the same end of the phone, as my phone has ). The plastic part flares out to 7/16" wide as it approaches the metal, which means that cases with smaller openings for charging cables will have difficulty accommodating the plug securely. Unfortunately, because I have a case with smaller port openings, and because I don't want to (a) take the case on and off to use this dock or (b) alter the case or the dock itself, it's not going to meet my needs. The problem is the amount of plastic surrounding the micro-USB connector (see image in customer images). This is really a great piece of hardware, and the software is excellent as well. Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2014 ![]()
